Swab Stairs
Stairs to another creative dimension
In the city we are constantly going through what some call non-sites, citizens go from here to there, constantly going up and down stairs. An action that our body performs practically automatically, at a given moment and thanks to art and creativity can become an interesting experience, a ladder can also be a game, a through or a simple smile.
We designed this project in collaboration with the artistic director Virginia Pallarés in collaboration with Tansportes Metropolitanos de Barcelona, Swab Art Fair and the main art and design academic centers in the city. Different centers participate in each edition and, through open and participatory processes, the students present their ideas and a council/jury decides on the works that are going to be installed ephemerally on the stairs of the main Barcelona metro stations during the Swab fair.
